The official title of the school is "Business Academy and Secondary Special school and Higher Special School" in Valasske Mezirici. It is a public school which consists of twenty-two basic classrooms, sixteen specialized rooms for special subjects and five computer rooms. All computers are connected and form school LAN computer network. The LAN network is connected to the Internet.

Language education takes place in three specialized labs which are fully audio-visually equipped. One lab is equipped with multi-medial MacIntosh computer as well as video-recorder or loudspeakers.

The information centre with the school library serves for self-study. There are eight multi-medial computers, a video recorder and audio technique. The library is administrated through professional library software which is also connected to the Internet. The information centre is supervised by a university-educated engineer.

The school holds its gym, a fitness club and a tennis court with a synthetic surface.

History

During the WWII there was only one business academy in our region. It was situated in the town of Frenstat pod Radhostem. After the war in 1945 there were founded two other schools, a new business academy in the town of Vsetin and a business school in the town of Novy Jicin. The school in Vsetin consisted only of two classrooms ( one for the business academy and the second for a business school) and there were only two teachers. Ing Eduard Schmidt was the headmaster and Mr. Stanislav Rezek was the second teacher. Both teachers had to teach forty-eight lessons a week without being paid for so many overtime lessons.

In the school year 1946-47 the total number of classrooms increased by two. The classrooms were situated in the firehouse next to the building of the grammar school. The staff increased by two external teachers (Mr. Jungwirt and Mr. Junek).

In the school year 1947-48 as the number of students increased, there was a lack of space. The school had to be moved into the boarding school of the company Zbrojovka. The boarding school was situated four kilometres from Vsetin.

In 1949 the Ministry of Education decided to decrease the total number of business schools. The business schools in Vsetin, Frenstat and Novy Jicin were closed down and all the schools were substituted by the school in Valasské Mezirici. The school consisted of one class of the business academy and one class of the business school. In the school year 1949-50 due to the decision of the Ministry of Education six classes moved to Valasske Mezirici, into the building of former Teachers Institute. The name of the school was "Higher economic school and economic school" and Mr. Maxmilian Hons became the headmaster of the school.

As the number of students increased gradually the school was moved into the building in Masaryk street in the school year 1971-72. The building was a former basic school, there was no gym, no school canteen, as well as lack of classrooms. In spice of the space difficulties the equipment of specialized classrooms was the best one in the region. In 1971 the school had a Cellatron computer.

The playground was extended and adjusted in the school year 1974-75. In the same year the tennis court was built. On 2nd October 1981 the building of new gym hall started. Pupils, their parents and teachers had worked for thousands hours before the gym was finished which happened in September 1984. In 1985 the extension of the old building started. The school acquired six new classrooms and two teachers' offices and a commodious entrance hall.

The construction of a new boarding house which started in 1986 supposed to satisfz accommodation and board necessities of students. But the changes after 1989 brought also changes into economical conditions of the school and the boarding house was finished as a new family secondary school. Our school acquired and rebuilt the buildings of a former kindergarten. The premises have been used since 4th September 1995.

As you can see the history of the school (especially since 1971) consists of contractions, extensions, deadlines and terms, bringing together money, inspections…Headmasters of the school became also builders. It was not always easy to joint the everyday life at school with the problems with contractions but they managed it successfully they deserve thanks. And who are they? The former headmasters Mr Stanislav Spanihel, Ing. Jaroslav Cip and the contemporary headmaster Ing Jaroslav Halasta.

In schoolsyear 1971/1972 acquired High economic school In Valasske Mezirici its own building in Masaryk's street (former Lenin's street).

Now we can say, that even this solution was one of makeshift ones. Building of former National (basic) school was unsuitable yet then. The complex missed gymnasium, mess as well as classrooms.

Teacher were forced to live in neverending hurry, since some of the classrooms were in the building of basic school Krizna, other classrooms were in housing estate Pod oborou (next to laundry). Pupils went to Delnicky dum (Workers house) and to gyms of other schools for P.E. Board was provided by mess of Grammar school in Hus's street.

After all, equipment of specialized classrooms was the best one in the region. There were typewriters, computers ... In 1971 school already possessed Cellatron computer.

The playground was extended and adjusted in schoolyear 1974-1975. In the same year school builded a tennis court. Marathons to gyms in the winters had to go on.

Building of gymnasium had begun 2nd October 1981. The work was self-help. Pupils, their parents and teachers had worked together for thousands of hours in total. Lavish opening took place at 3rd September 1984. Even that day was not the end of work. In schoolyear 1985 new building begun - it was expansion of current building. School acquired 6 new classrooms, 2 teacher restrooms and commodious entrance hall.

New boarding house (building started 1986) was supposed to satisfy accomodation and board necessities of pupils. Changes after 1989 brought also changes to economical conditions of school.

So the school "exchanged" spaced boarding house and classrooms in housing estate Pod oborou. In the boarding house settles new Family school recently and the classrooms in Pod oborou are occupied by Industrial school for deaf. Our school got buildings of former creche and kindergarten. They are used since 4th September 1995.

So, it is finally to say STOP. Indeed, the history of school (especially since 1971) consist of building, extensions, checkdays, terms, money, inspections...

Headmasters become builders. It was not easy - lead the everyday life in school, teach and manage the building. They coped all the problems and they deserve thanks. And who are them? Former alternate headmaster Stanislav Spanihel, former headmaster Ing. Jaroslav Cip and recent headmaster Ing. Jaroslav Halasta.
